What is a Catalytic Converter?
With an estimated 254 million cars in the U.S. there is a lot of pollution that can get generated. One way to reduce pollution is a device called the catalytic converter. The converter converts pollutants into less innocuous emissions or vapors.
CA and NY special CARB requirements:
California and New York require all vehicles that are equipped with California emissions to use special CARB certified Catalytic Converters. The Exhaust King carries 1000's of Califoria and New York CARB certified convertrs in Walker, CATCO, and AP Exhaust. CA and NY residents please click here for special CARB requirements.
What are Catalytic Converters Made of?
Catalytic Converters can be made of many materials. Each material does a specific job. A washcoat is applied to surface of the converter and acts as a carrier to disperse materials across the entire surface. The materials applied are commonly Titanium Dioxide, Aluminum Oxide or Silicon Dioxide. Materials such as Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium are commonly used in the converter. Platinum and Rhodium are both used as a reduction catalyst. Platinum also works as an oxidation catalyst.
WHY CHOOSE AN EXHAUST KING CATALYTIC CONVERTER?
Though the original converter is built to last, a clogged catalytic converter is a real possibility, as well as one that has become rusted, damaged or beyond warranty. If your vehicle has become sluggish and loses power on hills, an aftermarket catalytic converter from Exhaust King is the solution. A direct fit catalytic converter is made for specific vehicles and is intended to bolt directly on, while a universal catalytic converter requires cutting and welding to fit.
Whatever your exhaust needs, Exhaust King can deliver!
